I have owned a lot of cars and trucks over the years but never a Bronco. I am a Mustang guy going back to my first car. I just put my 2019 750 hp GT in storage for the winter. I’m planning my new BL for my next winter beater plus taking the Razer to the trails. I like cool cars I’m a car guy Broncos are cool that’s enough for me.

Wait, what!?!!! This thing isn't going to drive like my Infiniti? What the hell have I've gotten myself into?

Thank you, thank you @Blue76 you have become our only hope! What would we have done without you? Well at least you won't be buying my Broncos next July 4th, because I'll running trails through Colorado laughing my ass off about some putz thinking he could pick up a used one by this time!!

Even on my F150 they make a big difference.
also going to add that low fuel mileage and expensive insurance will shock some people. My FJCruiser insurance is way more than my F150 or my wife’s Acura. Even more than a 535i I had. Guessing the Bronco will be similar.
Maybe I did something wrong but I just got a quote for a 2021 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon (most similar vehicle to the Badlands I could think of) and I was quoted $52/month for full coverage through Geico. I'm not sure what is considered 'a lot' for other people but that's about what I expected, and within my budget

I'm guessing gas mileage will be around 18-20 in the city and 20-23 highway. But ya know? It's actually slightly better mpg than any 2021 Wrangler, 4runner, or Tacoma.

I think you're correct that people used to driving a sedan are in for a rude awakening, but truck/SUV/4wd/AWD people are in for a pleasant, calming surprise

Pretty reasonable prediction. I agree with it.....until your conclusion at the end of your post.

YOU shouldn't be surprised by what the Bronco is and what it isn't. You are not one of the unwashed masses who don't know what a Bronco is all about. You should already feel confident that it can handle your fishing kayak transportation duties.

So why wait until July 4th to buy used? Do you think you will get a screaming used deal in July? Seems like a better strategy is to just stand in line with the rest of us and ensure you get it.

Yes there will be some quick flips by disillusioned people (after they have taken all their Instagram pictures and gotten their ego kibbles)...but I would be shocked if you saw a reasonable savings by taking this used approach in July 21.
I think there will be a lot that don't even make it that far. For many, seeing a real Bronco will be when their build arrives. I think a higher number than some expect will remain on the dealer lot to be sold as new because it wasn't what the customer was expecting.

I blame covid, YouTube, and amateur radio. Being trapped at home has me wanting to escape. In addition the extra time at home has led to watching way too many overlanding channels on YouTube. Plus I recently got an amateur radio license which has spun up a new hobby. Amateur radio has this thing call POTA (Parks on the Air).

Now enters the the new Bronco which promises to tie all this together and let me escape to our national and state parks, while overlanding. I can then use my radios to get on the air and do POTA activations from the campsites, talking around the world from remote locations. Add to this fond memories of camping as a kid with my Dad and his 86 Bronco, makes for the perfect storm.

I am going to miss the size/power/utility of my full size V8 pickup, but it certainly has the potential to be more than worth it. Only time will tell.

I always wanted an off road vehicle. Never had anything like it before. Bought an old TJ with a manual and mud tires. First manual I had ever owned. Rough and loud as heck. Loved it and kept it 6 years before wanting a 2004 terminator mustang cobra convertible. That car was far from a refined cruiser and is still the most fun car I have owned in some regards. It had a clutch so stiff, you developed Franco Colombo calf’s driving around.

Maybe I am an outlier but I fully expect people who lust after the new Bronco will be thrilled even if they have never owned a 4X4 previously. Plus I think you are underestimating how refined this will be. IFS, AC, Comfortable seats, good visibility.

We can agree to disagree. Then again I see you drive a Ford Flex. If that is your primary driver I can see how you have that perspective. My GTR is more rough in many ways than my current Rubicon. Never had driven one of those either before I bought it as well. Dealers don’t let you test drive those cars. And at 2x the cost of a Loaded Badlands that is another example of where you don’t want to make a mistake. Love the car and have zero intentions of trading it in because it rides like a track car compared to a 911.

I love how this entire thread was started by a guy who has NEVER driven the new Bronco telling other people they will hate how it drives...

How many convertibles exist for a family of 5? Exactly two that I’m aware of (at least that are within my financial reach): Wrangler and Bronco. I’ve heard nothing good about Wrangler’s on-road manners. Thus, it’s down to Bronco. It’s a market of one.

I’m buying the Bronco because I can’t afford an Escalade.

Interesting thread that's caused me to reflect on why I want a new Bronco.

Definitely the lifestyle bit. I know I'm not going to be hitting any actual technical hard trails but I do want to be able to go inna woods as the kids say. And my race car days are over. Also want something with some personality.

I've driven CR-Vs for the last 6 years and they are fantastic vehicles that provide tremendous value, but BORING!

The last time I was this excited about a vehicle was my 2004 Subaru WRX STi... That car was a beast. No sound proofing, no radio, and a hard suspension. That car beat the hell out of me physically and financially but I loved every minute for 4 years. Then it was time for a change to something softer, less brutal and more economical.

Time to swing that pendulum back the other way!

Now the real info i need is can I fit my L-39 Lahti in it or not!?!? Or do I need a pintle mount? Will that be one of the 200 accessories!?!?

This happened with the Gladiator. Many truck buyers bought them because they thought it would be cool to have a truck with a removable top and doors. They had no idea the Gladiator wouldn't ride like their King Ranch or Platinum. It was hilarious watching person after person on the Gladiator forums trading in after a month or two. I think I remember one trading in a week for a Ram.

I'm sure the same thing will happen with the Bronco. The new hotness. People not used to a utility style vehicle. Rides too rough. Doesn't have super comfortable seats. Etc, etc. But those early used ones will still sell for a premium because dealers won't have regular stock for a while. Probably for damn near the price of a new one.

I imagine a few years from now this will be a friendly, knowledgeable, helpful community; but unfortunately for now it’s going to be a trash fire while this vehicle finds its legs.
As a JL Wrangler owner since 2018, I'm on the JL forum as well. now into the 3rd model year it (the forum) hasn't improved. While there are a few "core" users that are willing to help the new Jeep owner or those considering one, the vast majority of the folks are the same types that make me hate social media and internet forums to begin with. Trashing the product... the manufacturer.. the competition... the other users that aren't exactly like them or see Jeeps the same way they do. I'll hold hope while this one gets up to speed, but so far.... damn....

But that's just me....
