PPF and Ceramic?

I considered it and I’m glad I didn’t spend the money. After 15 months and 28k miles, including some epic road trips, I’ve gotten a couple of minor chips on the hood and that’s it. A dab of touch up paint made them unnoticeable. But, I have a lighter color and big side steps and don’t wheel through brush.

I did full PPF (except the roof) on my 2024 WildTrak almost immediately after purchasing it new in January 2025. After a year and a half and over 13K miles, I don’t have one stone chip or pinstripe, and I have taken it on trails where branches rubbed up against it.

My installer used STEKDyno Shield film which is supposed to have ceramic impregnated in the film.

It is very hydrophobic and most of the dirt comes off by just hosing it off. I have been very pleased.

What you really should do is just go out there - pick up the biggest rock in your driveway, and chuck it right at one of the doors.

Pop that cherry early and get the first ding out of the way. Heck, may want to go ahead and do the windshield while you are at it and get that one over with as well.

Full disclosure - I DIY ceramic (Griots), it doesn't do anything against pinstriping, but dust/mud come right off. The level of pinstriping and dings I have by now, though, PPF wouldn't have saved either. But I do go play in the woods often. If you just stay on highway, PPF may be worth it.

I wrapped the whole rig minus the top with Xpel Ultimate Fusion. Works like a champ!! No more Texas pinstripes!! Find a reputable installer who will keep the warranty. Love it!! Don’t waste your money on Ceramic.

Thanks so much for the feedback! I will skip the rock throwing lol. And I've already had a Bronco windshield crack on me (in a rental - ) so hopefully I'll dodge that for a bit longer
I will be mostly be doing daily driving, and very little off-roading.
