Just an account of my experience today, hope it helps someone.
My build was scheduled on Jan 20 for a “week of March 14” build. I got the VIN from my dealer the next day. According to the order expert at the dealer, having a VIN issued meant no more changes. Then I read here that some things could still be changed. I emailed the dealer, he said nope sorry. So today I decided to drop by and see if I could convince him to humor me.
Once he begrudgingly agreed to try, his eyes got wide and he muttered something like “I’ll be damned”. As we scrolled through the WBDO together, I noticed that some line items were greyed out completely, some only had their little selection bubbles greyed out, and some looked normal. Those normal ones are the only that could be changed for my order.
Sadly the hard top could not be added as I had hoped. I was able to re-add a few items I had removed in an abundance of caution and hopes of getting an earlier build date. Floor liners, door bags, etc all back on my order. I could have also changed the color and the sound system but chose not to. The only major change I actually made was to ditch the modular bumper in favor of the steel one. I did that because after reading other threads here, it seems that if I want to add a winch but keep parking sensors, ACC, and the trail cam functionality, I need to replace the whole bumper. I’m fine with that, but why pay for the modular if it’s coming off ASAP?
Anyway hope that’s helpful for someone here. I have definitely learned a lot from you folks, just hoping to give back a little.
