I picked up my brand new, 2024 Two-door Heritage Bronco the end of February. Before it even had its first oil change, I put it thru hell during the STAR Expedition.
Pinstriping... A LOT of pinstriping.
Today, I fix that....

Great video! Thank you for the detailed explanation. I’ve have overzealous dog claw marks on my doors. My dog enjoys spotting for me from the passenger and rear windows.

I have a dewalt orbital sander and a makita angle grinder. I believe both have 2 speeds (on and off). I am thinking I want to use something that has more speed control.

are the tools you mentioned specifically polishing tools or could I use an orbital sander? I’m a little afraid of putting the angle grinder anywhere near my bronco.

About day 8 of ownership.. only about 5-10% of it made it through the clear coat but no point trying to keep this black paint nice

Yeah this is what mine looks like coming off the mountain. Most of that washes off, but I’ve got a few nice lines that are down in the paint.
Doesn’t mean I don’t care how it looks, so glad for the video - I’ve been meaning to figure this out and see if something more than just the scratch remover paste and a rag does better

Yeah I didn't mean to imply i just totally don't care.. more like I'll do it once a year or so. I've had ok luck with a few correction compounds and a polishing bit for my drill but I wear the deep ones with pride still haha

You're probably okay with the orbital sander. Is it like a palm sander? May be a little difficult to control šŸ¤·šŸ»
The Dewalt rotary is a polisher...
It has a speed rpm dial like the Porter Cable but also the trigger is variable speed, so you can ease into the ramp-up.
My Lexi is also a window lurker! My passenger side window trim is TOAST from her claws. Lol

I recommend an orbital buffer over rotary. Orbital is pretty idiot proof. Rotary can burn through clearcoat. Yeah, orbital takes more time, but better safe than sorry.
Yup... I'd get some miles under your belt before going rotary. Even I slipped up a couple of times in the vid and I've been doing this for a long time.

Yeah, the off the shelf paste is a waste of money. It works at trying to fill the scratches more so than remove them. More like a glaze product.
You can find good, enthusiast products online and learn lots from the detailing forums as well šŸ¤˜šŸ»
