Painting BL Wheels

I have the optional wheel ordered on my BL, w/AT or TA tires. It says it is a painted alum. alloy wheel black, with the dark gray trim. I assume I can take these to a local wheel guy and have them painted a bright silver with a red trim. I have the hot pepper red on the truck, want to use the same for the trim. I'm posting to see if any one has had their wheels painted. Looking for pros and cons to have this done. Feedback would be appreciated.

If you're painting the wheels themselves, they should be powder-coated so the finish lasts. Are you sure on the silver? Maybe try just painting just the rings and see how that looks.

Alternatively, your wheels can be stripped of paint and then the aluminum can be polished. Once polished, they can be coated in clear to protect the aluminum.

If you paint just the rings, spray can paint is okay (if the surface is properly prepared) since the rings come off they can be touched up when they get scratched. You can wait for the Hot Pepper Red to become available from Ford or other suppliers in a spray can.

With all that said, it might be better to get new wheels you like and sell the factory wheels.

Thanks Brian. I should have said power-coat. I also read they should be clear coated after the paint goes on. I don't like black or dark wheels. I read one sight that said you could have the PCV, ??, finish put on. What ever the correct name is I have this on my F-150. They are easy to maintain and look very nice. I know power coating is around $250 per wheel. Maybe I will look for other rims.
