OTA Software Update performed, now having electrical issues ***UPDATE after dealer visit

Anyone else having issues after the recent software update?

Against my better judgement, I let an Over The Air software update happen, now electrical gremlins have reared their ugly heads. Per the Ford App, the update was to correct an issue with the windows, which I did not have.

Daytime Running Lights now come on when the Bronco is locked, unlocked, or ignition is started. DRL’s are deactivated in the systems menu. DRL’s will remain on when Bronco is turned off, and will remain on for an extended period of time. Not sure if the BCM is cutting power to them. I have the lamp delay set to off.

Highbeams are inoperable. The indicator in the dash lights up when I activate the highbeams, but the lights do not turn on.

Left turn signal indicator and noise are rapid flashing/clicking, but the actual lights are operating normally. Right turn signal operates normally, and both in-dash indicators flash/click at normal rate when hazard button is activated.

I am away from home on vacation, so I don’t have access to my ForScan laptop, or code reader. Have scheduled an appointment at dealer for next Thursday. Super frustrated right now.

That sucks. I just seen a pop up on my screen yesterday, but didn't allow it. Thanks for sharing so others will know what's going on, and I hope yours doesn't cause you more headaches.

Try this:

General Reset for Wierdness
Unplug the negative battery terminal for about 5 minutes
Reconnect the negative terminal
This reboots all the modules and computers in the Bronco
Use a trickle charger rated for AGM batteries:
Connect (+) to the (+) battery terminal
Connect (-) to either chassis ground or the side tab on the (-) battery terminal
DO NOT connect directly to the (-) battery post
The BMS system must see the charger and going directly to the (-) battery post will bypass it.
Let the battery trickle charge over night. Low battery voltage, or just the BMS thinking there is low battery voltage, can cause a lot of odd things to occur and this corrects for that possibility.

I don’t have access to a battery charger at the moment. I did discon the negative battery terminal for 10 minutes. Issues are still present. Guess I’m going to have to live with it until my appointment with the dealer on Thursday.

Had an appointment at dealership this morning. Tech discovered water incursion into the pigtail adapters I had installed at the headlight plug to power the IAG Off-road Trail Marker Lights and Grill Lights. The driver’s side adapter had corrosion from the water incursion.

I had used the adapter provided by IAG Off-Road, and dielectric grease when installed, and had not had any issues in the two months the lights were installed.

The service writer said that the OTA software update possiby could have triggered the issue, as the lights were installed a while ago, but they were unable to find any other instances of this happening.

The tech disconnected the pigtail adapters and plugged factory plug back into headlights, and all is well!

The service writer recommended that I turn off the automatic updates as they have seen numerous issues with them. I took care of this immediately.

Best part about this visit, other than headlights and signal working properly again, was the dealer didn’t charge me anything. The service writer states he erred in failing to inform me that there could be a diagnostic fee, so he wasn’t going to charge me.

I am going to send an email to IAG Off-road, and let them know of the issue I experienced. Not sure if they can better design their adapters to be more weather resistant.
