So I have been bouncing back and forth between a Big Bend with Sas and Mid package and an OBX with the High Package. I currently live in Florida and figure that I will likely be here for at least the next 5 years. Would love to be back in Colorado where I would definitely have ordered the Big Bend with Sas likely over the OBX, but since I live in a fairly flat state I figure I can get more out of the creature comforts such as the High Package (love the big dumba$$ screen and the 360 cameras) for the time being. I understand that the cost of the Sas is a great deal and if I could price out the OBX with Sas to my price point I would but I don’t want to price it out further than I can afford. I am also a late July res. so I likely may be into a 22MY, which is a double edged sword but if that happens I will make adjustments then. Don’t get me wrong I love the look and functionality of the Sasquatch package.
Anyway I wanted to know if I made a good choice with adding the 4.27 rear locking axel to the 2.7 OBX. I figure that later on down the road when I lift it and put larger tires and better rims on it that the 4.27 ratio will be what I need. I’m prepared to be roasted for this post so have at it, haha. Technically my order hasn’t been submitted totally yet, I have only sent in the PDF to my dealer so worst case I find out some more info and switch things up.
Thanks all for your time.

If you plan to put bigger wheels and tires on it you want the 4.7 rear end.

You're a smart man. I did the same thing and went with the OBX w/ High Package. I wanted to get everything from Ford that I couldn't get aftermarket (or at least what wouldn't be easy to add aftermarket) like the 12" screen, Auto 4x4/4.27 gears, leather, 2.7L engine. 4.27 will be fine for larger tires as long as you don't plan on going over 35". The Wrangler Rubicon has 4.10 gears and I see plenty with larger tires. I plan on moving up to 33" tires to see how it looks and then possibly adding a small lift if it looks awkward. Hopefully there is a way to tweak the speedometer because I think having the wrong speed shown would bother me. Buying the MIC fender flares should also be cheap if you're not into the painted ones.

According to the formula that was in a video posted on gear ratios the 4.27 should be good up to like a 35-36” tire.
The formula is new tire size times the old gear ratio then divided by the old tire size. Just what I was working with.

I have done the math here before, the 4.7 is only a 5% difference.

As you can see from my signature, I went non-sasquatch OBX Lux Advanced 4x4, mostly because I didn't like the Sasquatch wheels and tires, but also didn't want the 4.70 gears when I spend a bunch of time on the highway. I would have ordered the Badlands, but that MGV is the Texas heat - No. I also wanted carpet and not the washout floors (I have that in my F-150).

So what am I doing about the stuff that I "gave up"? Well, I have a Badlands suspension on order. Gives me a 2/3" lift and the Bilsteins for about $1200. I have a TrueTrac differential for my M190 arund $400, which hopefully will bolt in, still working on the details there. I have the rims and tires I want (RTR Tech 6 rims 17x9 +30 offset) with 33.5"x12.5" Milestar Patagonia M/T's ($2k). That's how I resolved the fact that I noped out of the Sasquatch package.

The M210 with front locker on the Sasquatch package is stronger and more capable below 20 MPH than the M190 TrueTrac. Above 20 MPH, the front locker turns itself off, while the TrueTrac works at any speed. If you are wheeling rocks, you want the M210, but if you are ripping down loose stuff above 20 MPH, the TrueTrac shines.
