Oracle Puddle Lamps Add-On

Hi everyone - I've been lurking here since we got our 4dr Wildtrak back in August. We love this thing, it's a blast to drive.

I pre-ordered the Oracle mirror ditch lights and added the 3W puddle lamps when I found they were available.

I'm torn between a few ideas for wiring. Ideally I'd follow this post with the Forscan mods, but I have warranty concerns.

So, I thought it would be close enough to have the puddle lamps turn on when the interior lights come on. That covers the situation when the door opens or the unlock button is pressed. I found this video showing the wiring of aftermarket interior lights to the interior light circuit. See 0:47 in the video.

My question is, does that purple wire have enough current to drive 2x 3W lights (0.5A total) or is it simply a control/logic wire? I am experienced with electrical work and circuit diagrams, but I just don't know where to find that information.

Following this. On my short list is adding puddle lights to the bottom of the side view assembly as well. I think wiring them to the dome light and aux seems like the perfect option. However, I'm not sure if that's possible and where the best place would be to tap into coming from the mirror assemblies.

This guy has a great idea, if you're ok with some soldering and electronics work. I've already added the Houclemic interior lights but not happy with the intermittent behavior. I'm concerned about power usage, so I'll probably piggyback off the existing Houclemic wiring to drive a 12V relay which controls the puddle lamps. Whenever I get around to it...

Thanks, but not looking for a way to wire to an Aux switch. I was looking for a way to wire into interior lights so that puddle lights come on when doors are unlocked or opened.
