Looking for clarification. If I choose to pay extra for the hard top on my OBX will the soft top be included or go away entirely?

It’s usually one or the other... except:

The “Dual Top” option means you’re purchasing both a hard (mic or modular) and the soft top. The vehicle will be delivered with the hard top installed and the soft top stuffed inside.

I saw that was an option but then it claims "available in late 2021" which doesn't make sense on the hard MIC and soft top when neither have been announced as late availability.

They don't have enough to allow people to get both. If you want both, you will have to wait. If you don't want to wait, go ahead and get MIC and order the soft top later from Ford. That's what I'm going to do.

That makes sense to me. I will likely get the MIC and worry about a soft top later. I was also wanting to make sure that if I were to go dual then I wasn't paying more for an upgraded soft top when the standard would have been included.
Thanks

Yep. Dual top is late availability because Ford is saying “let everyone get a serving before you go up for seconds.”

Also, only vehicles that come from the factory with the hard top will include the rear washer/wiper connections. So if you want to skip dual top, thinking you’re going to add the other later, definitely opt for the MIC and pickup the soft top later.

Outside of the wiper hookups (if you don’t live in an area with ridiculous salt on the roads and you aren’t getting it all muddy), I’m kind of leaning the opposite. I figure you’ll be able to pick up a MIC top for next to nothing from people that are impatient and want their bronco right away but ultimately want a body colored/black/white top. Unless I’m misunderstanding how that process works. Kind of a risk, but could end up saving some money if the wipers not important.

Not sure if it has been established, but does the rear also have defrosters? Because if they do, getting a Soft Top Standard would lose that hookup as well right?

I‘m doing this also (getting th MIC now) but probably getting an aftermarket/non-ford soft top. Maybe the fastback or another option once they come out.

it is my understanding that if you get the Soft too from the factory. There will be no hook ups for wiper/defrost/washer jets

This is the part that blows my mind. Why not just install it as an option in the soft top and charge for it on the build? Seems easy enough.

It does have defroster.

And your calculation is correct

It does seem like that would make for a more streamlined assembly which is was they are going for.

I've come to conclusion that I'm going soft top only, as it's standard on Badlands and would have immediate availability.
I love the looks of the modular but I'd be running a ST on the trail anyway. A hard top I'd have to store, vinyl wrap it (like the rest of the vehicle), it costs more, has 6 pieces to possibly squeak or rattle (I'm not sure I trust the supplier), and I'd drive most of the time with the panels off anyway. I can do that with a ST and not pay a dime more. In addition, if I went with MIC, I'd have to buy the ST after the fact and I'm not crazy about the MIC.
Feel free to correct me.
