Badlands Area 51 with optional wheels, leather and manual
thanks! I have a Area 51 First Edition ordered so that should give me a great idea of what to expect. Too bad neither have a hard top though...I was really looking forward to seeing what the MIC looked like in person before I finalize my decision to forego the MOD top.

Event should be free unless they pulled a fast one last minute.
last I heard it is only 4 doors. No 2 doors.
I believe the event is outside.
It's outdoors but in an enclosed tent. Plenty of space to spread out and they had a third guy there disinfecting the whole time. I wish I got more pics! Might have to stop by again tomorrow lol

I'm pumped for you. I was thrilled to hear it was an Area 51 badlands with the optional wheels. While Im going automatic, I just wanted to feel the MGV and see a Badlands for dimensional purposes. To get to see almost your exact (if not your exact) build then it's going to be incredible. Did you go soft top or MIC? I'm going to be a little honest.. the delays with the roof and the reports of the roof making a lot of noise has me concerned a bit.
Which roof is reported to make lots of noise? I'm assuming soft top bc MIC is delayed on the 4 door, right? I ordered a 2 door so a little out of loop on that one. Although seeing the 4 in person is making me reconsider. Wish I could compare to a 2 door in real life

The MIC apparently has wind noise issues. Hence why we are getting the free head top liner. Also part of the reading for the dalay

happy Friday buddy!
Let me know what you guys think about the shifting on the manual. I thought it felt great and comparable to my Jetta. Smooth and relatively short throws. A little different than my '96 ranger though 🤣

The bronco rep said he loved driving it for what it's worth. Said it didn't feel underpowered at all

My thoughts after the NEO showing last weekend-

PROS:
  • These bad boys are massive. You’ve seen it in every thread to date, but I’ll say it for the ppl in the back, the pictures don’t do it justice! I’m 6’1 and was surprised by the height of the step up in/out of the FE on display. My DD is a sedan, and it felt like I fell into a sinkhole when I got back in my car to leave. I consider this a pro bc I’m tired of riding on the ground.
  • (same as above) I didn’t have an appreciation for the size of the 35” wheels until I saw them in person. Same goes for the opt 33” that were on display. Those would be plenty big if you are debating sas / no sas IMO.
  • The fender flares were much more sturdy than I imagined them to be (again, pics vs reality)
  • Was surprised to see the ease with which the door was able to be removed. I know it’s designed to be be easy, but I expected the door weight to be more of a factor / possibly make it a little more awkward removal than we’ve seen in professional tutorial vids.
  • Seat cushions all felt comfy IMO and felt like leg-room was adequate front and rear.
  • I liked the black accent decals/graphics on the FE body & hood. Felt necessary to break up the color scheme a bit. I wasn’t considering adding those on my white 4 door. now I think I probably will.
  • Thought the sig headlights look great.
  • The excitement of the Bronco community was felt/noted. Folks were enthusiastic, which was great to see.
CONS:
  • This is probably just the way our Bronco rep quickly folded the soft top back to show us, but the top material was sitting on my head when I sat in the back seat. Again, I’m sure if the top was set back to an actual driving position this probably wouldn’t have been an issue.
  • While leg room was adequate, felt like it was a tiny bit snug up around the shoulders with the drivers side door shut. Not like bad bad, but I don’t think you’re going to get in one and say “wow this is super roomy.” Again, something we’ve been seeing mentioned in other posts.
  • Windshield seemed narrow (I mean like short and long) but this we can kinda tell in pictures, so I don’t consider this a huge con. Certainly less visibility than your typical sedan I’d imagine. Don’t really see it being an issue for me, though.

General thought: Color choice is subjective, so I don’t consider this a con, but I wasn’t wild about the cactus gray or Area 51 TBH. Highly recommend seeing your color in person if you are on the fence. Same goes for sas/non-sas decision.

All in all great experience. Appreciative of Ford for providing the opportunity to see them up close. And again, loved seeing the enthusiasm from our Ohio Bronco community. I think it’s going to be a fun summer!

I will say I was set on Area 51 for the longest time. However, without even owning the car the color has already started to wear on me. Couple that with it being the most in demand color and I wasn't sold on it. I never seriously considered Cactus Gray until I saw it in person this past weekend. These flat colors have a LOT of character to them. Depending on their surroundings and current weather conditions they can look totally different. I made the conversion to Cactus Gray this week after debating between it and Area 51. Figured with road salt and dirt it will be better hidden on the Cactus Gray than the Area 51.

Cactus Gray is the most Ohio color I've ever seen in my life. That's not a knock, it's highly versatile. Looks good in the 10 months of winter, looks good with road salt, looks good in the 2 weeks of summer we get, looks good in a pot hole, and it looks good in a pasture. I went with Carbonized Gray.

Not that big on La Rosa's?? I'll pretend I didn't hear that. It's my fav sauce! I even buy their pizza sauce at the store and make my own. ;)

Any other Ohio showings this weekend beside RICART?

Who thinks this show will have a full-size Bronco?

FYI - both the Ricart Event and the one a Beau Townsend (4/12) will have the Cactus Grey First Edition and the Area 51 Badlands, both 4-DR with soft tops.
