OEM "Tube Step Bars" - Running Board

Has anyone had an issue of the black powder coating chipping off of the? Mine look like crap! I looked up the TSBs and didn't see anything on it but upon further research it seems to be an issue with the F150, Expedition, and Explorer. Dealership (service advisor and manager) told me four months ago they were going to cover it under warranty and order a new one but it's on back order. I call monthly to get status and today I find out that the service advisor is gone, never ordered it and now I have to pay for it.

I'm curious to see if other Bronco owners have had this issue?

My advice is just have yours shot with Line-X it will hold up to the elements way better than another set. The next set will most likely do the same thing.

I'm thinking of switching to rock slide power steps if they aren't going to cover. If I'm going to have to spend the money I might as well upgrade. I'm just frustrated at the issue as a whole.

Powder coating is not very effective in situations where the coating is subject to stone strikes and chips. Once the coating is broken it's not long before it starts to flake and peel and the underlying metal is exposed to the elements.

The advice to use bed liner is an excellent one, you can even do it yourself if you're somewhat handy. For about $30 you might be happy with the results.
