Morning Community,
A few weeks ago I had my delaminated hardtop replaced under warranty. New one looks great but it seemed really noisy to me. My family said the didn’t really notice. Friday, we picked my son up from JROTC and my wife took over the driving so I could take a work call. I was stunned - the passenger side front seat had virtually no noise from the top. My wife apologized and said, I had no idea - it’s so noisy over here. Driving 70+ on the highway it was unbelievable how noisy the drivers side was compared to the passenger side. Any thoughts on how to troubleshoot this? I am assuming there is some issue with the driver side hardtop panel installation or the panel itself.
Thoughts?

The panels themselves may just be misaligned.

While not the focus of the video, I go through the process of aligning the panels in this video here at the 29m28s mark. Unfortunately, I cut out most of the alignment steps because... well... wasn't the focus of the video, but hopefully it'll give you a sense for what you have to do. You can certainly try it yourself if you wish.

Or just take it back to the dealer and have them look at it. Ford provides alignment instructions for the dealers in the service manual. (And for all I know it could have nothing to do with the alignment.)

Thanks for your advice. I noticed the leading edge of the panels is also different from left to right. If you zoom in on the picture, it’s easy to see.

Thanks Bryan,
Watched the video, love the Stihl Ballcap…question regarding panel alignment. I’m assuming Ford has instructions for adjusting the front panels independently? I think the drivers front panel is not contacting the header seal correctly.

Yeah there are six adjustment points, three on each side. Behold my crappy picture!!

The four outside ones are easy to get to, you can see the bolts immediately after removing the panels. The center two points require you to remove a bunch of trim pieces and are a bit of a pain.

Again, you can take it to a dealer and they can check the gaps to make sure they are within spec. May make the most sense since the hard top was just replaced.
