how a tank changes the operation of a pump vs a compressor

A compressor has a place to store the compressed air. All inflators create pressure, thereby compressing the air. It's arbitrary semantics, really.

So my wife got me one for valentines day. She thought it would be nice for airing up the Kayaks. It took me 3 hours to install. I had to remove my subwoofer box to run the wires. The power and the ground wire terminators on the unit broke off as I tried to install them. It took forever to get it lined up and in the tailgate. It's a tight squeeze. To test it I level out all the tires on the Bronco. It took about 1 minutes a tire to get from 35psi to 39 psi.

But from 10 to 35 psi, you'll be waiting over 10 minutes. Just be careful how long the unit runs, as you can see above the wiring gets quite hot!

I went with the Samout 7.06CFM single compressor (https://a.co/d/fGkqESF) and the 4-tire inflator (https://a.co/d/cPE8AI1). Tested this weekend and time from 20.5psi to 32psi on all 4 (stock sasquatch wheels/tires) at the same time was 4.5 minutes. Ambient was about 72deg and at completion the cooling vanes were hot to the touch but not enough to burn. After packing up the 4-way inflator the compressor was a comfortable temperature to put back in the storage bag.

So is it a compressor or more like a air pump style? In other words, does it look more like an ARB or VIAIR single compressor, or more like thhose electric air pumps?

Given that its fully inclosed I can't say but I am thinking air pump

only like 170 W, so figure two 100 W light bulbs there.. if the wires were HOT maybe go up a size or two?

I wouldn't touch the thing it it were my rig. Many better options out there.

Meh was curious that's all. I have a single ARB in that spot now. It was hell getting it in, but worth the trouble.
