New Lakefront Property

We are excited to start our build using plans from Den Outdoors! We made an offer on a lakefront lot in the Northwoods of WI and reached out to several builders. This is a relatively small 800sft. modern cottage that will hopefully be situated adjacent to my Bronco...I mean the lake.

Having an A frame cabin, with a 12/12 pitch in the roof, you might want to reconsider that! Maybe put 1/2 walls there so you are not bent over making the bed. It is tough on the back! Love the location and views though! My views!

We are in the small city of East Gull lake(pop. 995) on the south end of Gull Lake where the set back is only 50 feet. On most of the 46 miles of shoreline the setback is 100 or 150’ - two different counties and two cities all have different rules. The lake level stays almost constant rarely varying more than a couple of inches high or low so we were able to have our walk out basement just 3’10” higher than lake level. We are selling our Minneapolis home next May when our youngest graduates and will spend 5-6 months each summer at our lake house and the winters at our condo in Naples Florida. I’m a lifelong lake lover and enjoy summers in MN more than winters in Florida.


Our shoreline was wooded and messy when we built in 2017 but the builder and landscaper did an amazing job.

Absolutely breathtaking shingle style home...Just amazing! Our our primary residence is a similar architectural style. Great minds...ha!

We installed custom fabricated stairs down to the lake this weekend. ProWeld Fabrication did an incredible job. If you have a place in the Northwoods of Wisconsin...I highly recommend. 715-226-0344

Starting a build is always an exciting journey! It sounds like you've found a great location for your modern cottage by the lake. Considering the pitch of the roof is crucial, especially for comfort inside. I once stayed in a cabin with a steep A-frame roof, and it did make some tasks challenging.
