Hi all - I am a brand new Bronco owner as of about 3 weeks ago and I'm giddy with excitement every time I drive it (or sip on a beer in my garage to look at it)!
I'm also new to off-roading (previous car was a Focus ST), but diving in as fast as I can - have gone out 4 times already just on relatively easy trails with some moderate ruts and rocks, working my way up and loving it.
I wanted to share my acquisition story in case it helps anyone else on here waiting endlessly for your build.
I placed an order in March (about 8 months ago as of writing), and that was after waiting almost a year for order books to open. Then the UAW strike came and I was sure I would be waiting at least another year for my build, meanwhile prices would continue to creep up. Then I heard that Ford was offering a $2k-3k rebate for customers who cancelled their order and bought something on a lot. Two problems with that - most dealers charge huge markups, and I wouldn't compromise on my build.
So I scoured the country on Ford's inventory search for builds that matched what I wanted, called dealers and asked if they sold at MSRP, and moved onto the next. This was complicated by the fact that Ford's search only gives you a 100-mile radius, so it required a large spreadsheet with list of cities and zip codes big and small at about that 100-mile spacing.
The good news is, although it was a little painful, I did find a couple cars that matched exactly what I wanted and for MSRP. I shipped it from Ohio to Seattle for about $1,500, got a $3,000 rebate from Ford and got it [who knows how much] earlier than I would've otherwise, plus no additional price creep. Something to think about if you're OK enduring some short-term pain.
Best of luck to everyone!
