Wasn't sure if this belonged in skids or not, but honestly I can't tell if it's a skid, mainly because I have looked best I can online and haven't seen this on any models. I appreciate any help in advance.

I usually call it the crossmember - on many vehicles it helps support the trans

It’s basically a little deflector so something doesn’t hit the front of the fuel tank/fuel lines

I removed mine when I put my skid set on. Do you need?
No but thanks. Probably gonna go the same direction you did...Which skid did you happen to go with? I'm starting to look now.

IAG rock armor. I see youre blue ridge. really depends on what you plan to do. there was a thread a day ago or so on the IAG (and likely other full sets). you lose a couple inches of clearance with the IAG as the tranny and diff skids match the height / drop of the fuel tank skid. so everything is one constant height. I go to uwharrie enough with all its rocks that I was fine "losing" a bit but knowing I am well protected. I slide on rocks, and I dont care cuz of those skids. If you're going to brown mountain, you'd be generally fine with factory skids or just getting a fuel tank skid, engine skid, and maybe swapping the tranny cover for an aluminum one. It does appear you're non SASQ, so what's your use case?

I believe I'm heading to Brown MTN actually this Sunday.

Barnes 4WD's skid set is nice too, if you dont mind coating it. theyre just south of asheville in millers falls.

Actually, you only lose about 1/2" measured from the FDU and Trans x members on the V6 models. The rest of the main skids basically match that point for a nice belly surface. That's generally less height lost than when you air down.

Thanks for the info. As you said, I don't have the SAS so I don't plan on much heavy offroad. I'm planning on moving up to 33's at some point but any off-roading will be trails, light mud/ruts, and beach...likely never any rocks as I have little experience there and with the non SAS I would feel very underequipped.

Though the skids feel like a great insurance policy just in case.

There was a member here that took his stock Wildtrack SAS to Moab with our full set. He made it home, albeit the skids looked like they went through 'Nam. They got him off the trail and home while protecting the bits like they were designed to do. ✅

I believe it. I lifted our Braptor in the air jacking up on the middle of that skid alone.
