For those who have installed negative offset wheels on non sas models, I'm curious to know what mods you had to overcome. Examples I'm looking for are What rim width, tire size, lifts, crash bar removal, etc.... IM looking at -12 offset with either 33's or 35,s. Also curious if you have rubbing or bottoming out issues while offroading, with or without a lift. Driving on road without wheel rub is one thing, but I'm more curious about off road implications with suspension travel.

If you just have negative offset wheels at the normal width of 8-9 inches you don't really have to do anything. It all depends on what tire you install.

35s
  • +30 offset wheel or less with a width of 8.5-inches
  • Removal of the crash bars.
37s
  • +18 offset or less
  • Approx. 2" - 3" lift
  • New upper control arms
  • Removal of the crash bars
  • (Not strictly necessary) For full steering/suspension clearance you'll need to trim some of the fender and the front crash bar mounts.
  • (Not strictly necessary) If going for a 3"+ lift you should address the suspension geometry on the rear with a new/adjusted Panhard rod.
I should note the 37s are very "iffy"... ultimately depends on a lot of factors, including the exact tires you get. But that should give you a rough idea of what may be necessary.

I have some 17x9 wheels with -6 offset and 35x12.5 tires. My truck is a SAS so the crash bars are not there. No rubbing on the normal parts, but the aftermarket mud flaps needed to be trimmed. You might want the SAS flares to help cover the tires since they will stick out around 1.5" more than stock.
