Back in January of 2025 we went and played in the snow between Hood River, Oregon and Mt. Hood. The goal was to get to Mt. Defiance, a 5000 ft mountain that overlooks the Columbia Gorge. You can see that video and report here: https://www.bronco6g.com/forum/threads/hood-river-snow-day.107784/
Since it's been a relatively snowless year in the Portland Metro area and that we hadn't been out since before Christmas, we were itchin' to find some snow. Luckily it had snowed the night before in the mountains and there was no shortage of snow where we were headed back out to last weekend.
I don't think there were a delusions of actually getting to Mt. Defiance in the winter, but rather just to go play and see how far we could get. With three Broncos and enough recovery gear there was a good chance we'd come back.
That being said while the fresh powder was easy to plow through (until it got too deep) the packed powder was in the tracks was wicked slick. Essentially the first person had traction packing the snow down but everyone else was going to be on an ice-like surface. Which I found out the hard way.

We still had a great time with the game being how far could you go before getting stuck and having to be pulled out. Turns out farther than last year. I still need to plan a trip out there in the summer to get to Mt. Defiance.
