Hello for a long time I tried to find a way to make my mirror lights stay on over the normal 5mph shut off. I came across a thread that had good information but wasn’t very straightforward and still left people confused about it so I’m going to include pictures and try to be specific for anyone that wants to do this.
To start on both sides of the engine bay right where your hood hinges are you will see a 16 pin harness. This is where you be making your cuts and splicing. On the PASSENGER Side you will see a purple and brown wire located on pin number 8 and across from that on the other piece of the harness you will see a black and red wire.(As shown in first picture). This black and red wire is the wire that runs to you mirror light giving it power. On the DRIVER Side you will see a brown wire located on pin number 8 and across from that on the other piece on the harness you will see a black and red wire,(the same as passenger side). As shown in the first picture I had already cut the correct wire.
These are going to be your wires cut. After cutting your wires tape up the wire running into the harness on both sides of the engine. From here it is very simple. The side (not taped) is running to your mirror light. Strip the wire and put your desired electrical connector onto the wire. Next grab any spare wire you have or buy some. I used 20 guage I believe. With this wire put into the other side of your connector leaving enough excess for it to be able to run to your desired aux switch. Make your typical splice, and then I used heat shrink to prevent any moisture issues or anything like that.
***Picture below is an ex. of passenger side splice, it is exact same from driver but i didn’t get a picture.
From there run your excess wire however you would like to where your aux switches are. These lights don’t take much power so any switch should work, *(((be caution if you have a heavy load on one aux already though.)))* Strip your aux switch wire and splice together with your two wires running from your mirror lights. After that just button everything up and test to make sure everything is working right.
***Aux Switch #2 splice example. I used 2 because 3-6 are already taken and still want to save 1 since it’s a 30Amp. Below
*Mod took me about an hour to do
*You can wire each mirror light to a separate Aux switch if you wanted.
*Ignore all the wires please
. Pre wired rock lights.
Please reach out if you have any issues or want to discuss anything!
I’ll attach a video below of them working on the road!
