No official reason, but the leading theories are the winch inhibiting the airflow too much for the 2.7, or the weight distribution with the 2.7 and winch would be too far forward.
I had read somewhere the 2.7 was the difference in weight with the winch add on. By going to 2.3 it equaled the same front weight as the 2.7 so different suspension setup was not needed. No further increase in price. Found another article that mentions this.

That's what I meant by the weight. You put it better. That's what I believe too. There's also some tricky routing in the engine bay for the snorkel that they probably didn't want to engineer twice. I wish it had the 2.7 but I'm thinking of getting the new ford performance tune that brings it pretty close.

It was tough, but I traded in my first love, a 2021 2-door black diamond sas for a 2022 Everglades! Would you have made the same decision?
Already added a few nice touches, 35x12.5 BFGoodrich MTs, some lights, and mup flaps. Got a few more adds as well coming. Pleasantly surprised, didn't notice any extra wind noise from the winch or snorkel. Love the new rig already!

Where is this stripe on your old rig from? I've always liked this one.
