Update; everything actually going way better than expected! I was thinking frame damage, bent axle etc but the adjust just got done looking and it’s actually in way better shape than expected. Repairs will only be around $2k, and it won’t have an accident reported on the VIN! That’s what I was concerned about for next year, but keeping my resale intact I’ll be fine getting her back. What a nightmare though... look out for old lady’s guys!
Excellent news...

When I come trade it in next year y’all better not hold that against me!/s definitely selling it privately. Worth way more in private sale especially out here

Would never think of it ;)

Private sale minimize loss and hate to say it but a Wrangler is an easy sale.

They get absurd values out here in AZ too. Even mine I way overpaid for what it is, $15,900 for a 2010. But it was $5k cheaper than any other 4 door Jeep and I could easily sell it for $16k right now if I wanted.

Edit; just talked to collision repair shop and I can do an aftermarket bumper too! Should be a nice upgrade. I’ve been pretty upset these past few days but I think this is gonna work out. Thanks for the well wishes guys I really appreciate it!

Well final update. So after that “$2k” estimate the body shop did a tear down on Friday. And it turns out it’s not $2k, it’s $9800. Bent frame, broken control arms and mounts, all new steering needed, bent axle, plus all the cosmetic stuff. Body shop called me and said that when I was heading up to Utah, just told them it’s definitely totaled then and I’ll reach out on Tuesday for anything else I need to do. Tuesday rolls around... and they call me to let me know they put the bumper on but are waiting on everything else?? So I say wtf I thought it was totaled? Adjuster tried to call me on Friday, wasn’t able to get ahold of me, and just approved the repairs. It 100% should’ve been totaled but whatever, nothing I can do at this point. He did say I should get $2k-$3k for a diminished value, and since I went through a geico shop it has a lifetime warranty. Still just what an absurd situation. Here’s all the repairs they did.

Wow, Nick when you trade it in, just ask for the value without damage vs the value with damage and that will be the number you need to get...

Many of the Wranglers we trade for have had damage of some sort, we only care if was half the value of the vehicle to affect the trade in value...

Yeah I’m selling it private for sure to not have to deal with that ?. Luckily the body shop is at a Jeep dealership, I’m sure I can get them to write me a good before vs after comparison.

The funny thing is I think they 100% screwed the selves too. I’ve been in a rental car for almost a month, diminished value claim, towing it 2 separate times, plus all the repairs? This has cost them a fortune. The scrap value of wranglers is super high so I’m sure they would’ve been better off just writing me a check.

Oh well.

That sucks. Hopefully they fix it right and didn’t miss anything.

This just popped up. Safe to say they did.

That sucks! Only thing worse than a check engine light is it coming on after it was “fixed”.

Well the escapade continues. Got the CEL pulled, bad battery and an emissions leak. Replacing the battery made the CEL go away, so the body shop just said to come back if it does come back. (Needs more drive cycles) lo and behold it does come back after like 200 miles. So I brought it back, and this is what they discover:
Ford Bronco Just crashed my jeep 8ADA1B0A-3641-4888-A9BD-78120F33F4E7

So that’s fun! I’m sure geico is going to fight this one but the body shop guy said he will vouch for it especially since I had like 2/3’s of a full tank. That’s a lot of momentum...

For anyone looking for advice; if you have a major accident like mine just lawyer up. Biggest regret I’ve had.
