JB4 Results on 2.3L Bronco! - Lethal Performance

Hey All!



Terry over at Burger Motorsports has been quite busy testing the JB4 on a 2.3L Ford Bronco this week, and needless to say, it made some super impressive numbers, as expected, but not known for a fact until now…

The truck itself is a completely stock 2.3L w/ Sasquatch Package, an Automatic Transmission, and on a larger tire. Although, the truck was completely stock otherwise until the JB4.


Before the JB4, completely stock, the truck made 247 WHP and 304 WTQ on 91 octane, which is fairly impressive from the 275 HP rating given from the Ford.

On the next run, with just the JB4 tuner installed on 91 octane, it immediately jumped, now producing 272 WHP and 336 WTQ on MAP 1, as it’s preset to.

Next run, they mixed up a little E85 to get up to the equivalent of 93 octane and produced another 25HP and 30 FT. LB. TQ increase at 296 WHP and 366 WTQ.

Finally they added more E85 to gain some more octane, maxing out the timing and produced 309 WHP and 374 WTQ!

Just to give you a rough idea of how impressive these results are, we reached a peak gain of 312 RWHP and 411 RWTQ on a 2.7L First Edition Bronco with the same maps and device!

The JB4 has shown completely capable of cranking out 2.7L figures out of its 4 cylinder, little brother, and further surprised us with its performance potential.

Without either of the Device Connection Kits, there isn't a way to change maps unfortunately.

Although, the JB4 comes preset to Map 1, so you'll still have a 25HP / 30TQ jump.

No way to change maps via the cars interface? So to utilize it to it's full potential you need to spend even more money. Do you offer any forum member discounts, or have other specials.

I put one on my 2.7. Not really impressed with it. No gains in first or second. Does make the exhaust gurgle more. That’s about the only benefit I saw.

Unfortunately, that's the way JB4 has it it set up currently. I have seen in different cars, like BMW's and Hyundai's where they were able to change tunes with the vehicle's interface, although with the Bronco being so locked down, I don't know if that option is even possible, as I'm sure they would have it available to the user for the price of the unit.

As far as discounts go, Bronco6G Members have code "BRONCO6G", which you can use on checkout. Although, with their pricing restrictions, I cannot offer any discounts on the JB4.
