Installing Rear Fog/Chase Light Using Factory Switch & Harness

I added the pin to the body side bumper connector. Using SVP tail light adapter to grab, brake, running and rev. The bright red of the hitch light is controlled by OEM rear fog switch.

I cleared the DTCs and they’re gone. So, I think I just have the pins reversed somewhere or a bad connection. I have to be honest, it was my first time putting a weather pack connector together.

I’ll report back…looks good though. Just need them to illuminate

Reversed the pins and it’s still not working. I’m starting to think there’s a Forscan change that needs to be made in regards to the newer 2025 trailer module perhaps? I have the indicator on the dash. I guess I need to check resistance at the bumper now. All of my sensors and plate light are working. Just not the fogs. So, the G harness is functioning otherwise.

I didn’t as the BCM or whatever computer is controlling the current on and off.
Unhook the lights and see if a meter shows 12v. Also depending on the watts of those light they may exceed the rear fog circuit rating

'Hard' is relative.
1) Run a weather proof wire and connector from 'the rear' to the aux connector under the hood.
2) Use the pre-run aux wire behind the passenger rear trim panel and extend it by your chosen means of how 'hard' you want it to be (twist cap, tape, solder joint, etc).

I optioned for a wiring kit from SPV that allowed me double functionality. Rear lights come on when you put reverse AND I have the option to flip an AUX switch and turn on manually as I see fit.

One option was to run the wire up the OUTSIDE BOTTOM of the drivers side frame and then snake up to the AUX fuse block under the hood. I didn’t like this option as I figured I would find a way to destroy it, lol.

Instead I optioned to run it THROUGH the drivers side frame. It wasn’t too bad minus an error I made. I used a metal roll up electrical fish tape to help me I’ve had for years. Initially I chose a part of the frame that curved up by the wheel. The slot was tight but I thought things would fit. And they may have if it wasn’t on a weird angle, just wire (with no connectors attached), etc.

Long story short I got it stuck and fought a few hours until I was able to free it and get snaked out a hole lower in the frame before the curve upward. It wasn’t as ideal as my other location but worked much better and really didn’t matter as I was able to zip tie and get things really snug & out of the way.

Had I chosen better from the start this would have been a lot quicker and not too bad really. At the time I dropped way too many F bombs, lol.

Pick your poison. The pre-run wire for the aux is located in the rear cargo space that is just barely behind the passenger rear seat. You have to disassemble a lot of interior pieces to get in there and make that connection.

I considered that option but chose differently as I noted in my other response.

My thoughts were if both kind of sucked at least I wouldn’t accidentally break a clip and have an interior rattle that would drive me bonkers forever.

This may not be what you're looking for, but consider it as an idea: I hooked up a Heretic rock light to the rear cross bar of my Trailrax set up. It's hooked up to both my reverse lights and an aux switch, so it serves doube duty, as an additional reverse light, also (when switched from Aux) as an always-on chase light.
