After a month with my Bronco, there are a few things with the entertainment system that are driving me INSANE, so I'm hoping there some settings I can tweak to get the system to "knock off the nonsense."

I've got a 2022 Wildtrak Lux with the BO system. I'm using CarPlay, and thus Waze for my Navigation. Things that it is doing that are supremely annoying:

1. If I answer a phone call, the stereo defaults to my iPhone music when I hang up and pauses it regardless if I was listening to Sirius or Pandora/Spotify.
2. It will automatically change the right side window from the "music" tab to Navigation seemingly at random, so the screen has Waze AND the Ford Nav screen up, requiring me to scroll back through the tabs to the music screen.
3. If you are changing a setting or on any screen other than CarPlay and receive a text message, it immediately defaults back to the CarPlay screen erasing anything you were in the middle of inputting. It took me roughly 10 attempts to connect to my wifi at home due to my phone blowing up from work texts. Finally turned the phone off to complete this simple task.

Is there a simple setting that makes the stupid thing just stay on the screens you have up? I wonder if it is just CarPlay screwing with the system and if just using BT for a phone connections would solve this.

No real help to offer. Car play is just glitchy. Even worse in the lower Sync system Maverick. I just wish you could select a cellular provider and had built in Apple Music. I don’t care for relying on the phone.

Yeah this is just CarPlay unfortunately. Android Auto has similar issues but it’s not quite as bad. Other vehicles from other manufacturers have very similar issues. You could manage it before Apple introduced wireless CarPlay, but now you have very little control over it.

Essentially Apple assumes that if you are using CarPlay you are only using CarPlay, as it aims to be a complete replacement of your vehicle’s infotainment system.

It’s extremely annoying. I’m sitting in my Bronco right now and was listening to SiriusXM. But of course B6G is covered in advertisements so CarPlay interrupted SiriusXM to play the audio from the video ad. :cautious:

I’ve never bothered connecting CarPlay, I just Bluetooth my phone to the Sync system. You can still play music and send and receive calls and texts. If you want to do something else ie. change to FM you don’t need to exit out of CarPlay, just change the source on the touchscreen.
The only upside I see to CarPlay is being able to show navigation, but even then if I don’t know where I’m going I just look it up before I leave.

CarPlay is always a little quirky which is why I don’t use wireless and set my phone up for wired to the USB/USB-C ports. I have way more issues wireless than wired. Out of all the vehicles I’ve owned wireless CarPlay is always trash and I’ve rarely if ever have an issue with wired, since it’s only on when I actually want it or need CarPlay on.

When running quick errands I don’t need my screen alerting me every time I get a text or notification or call. I decide when my phone is connected (longer trips for GPS and/or music etc). I always disliked my phone auto connecting to the infotainment system every time I jump in a car, so if I want it connected I connect, if I don’t, i don’t connect it. No fumbling around with various screens popping up.

Yeah, seems like CarPlay just kind of sucks. I liked having Waze on the screen, but it isn't worth the hassle of all of the other nonsense. Gonna disconnect the wireless CarPlay and see how it goes.

Side note, I see you're just up the road in Sarasota. Small world.

I have a 22 base Sasquatch 2 door for about 2 months now. the CarPlay wired and wireless is so bad and glitching almost daily at this point. I even had the regular Ford software freeze up and get all delayed touch screen and garbled audio from its own audio. I can say in my 2020 Subaru Forester I have not ever had these issues with CarPlay at all. Ford needs to fix this with an update or replacement head unit. It feels like a 50/50 chance every time i get in the bronco weather or not my phone will sync either wired or wireless at this point. Absolutely a garbage rushed UI and software from ford. I also doubt the spend time in finding and sending out patches to fix the issues. I wish I had the cash to complete rip the garbage ford system out and replace it with something that actually works. Disappointed to say the least after waiting for so long to get the vehicle.
