I always felt that way until I test drove the auto 2.3. Salesman said go ahead and tromp it. I asked when is it going to shift - as I realized it was shifting. :) It is that good/ smooth. :)

Tom
not denying the modern automatics aren’t fantastic. There is a reason they aren’t even in most performance cars anymore. Automatics are faster shifting and better at it than humans.

For me it is purely the “love of rowing the gears” when driving. I have only owned manual cars my entire life and see no reason to stop now. In fact, I wouldn’t even own a Bronco if they didn’t offer a stick (I would have a Land Cruiser FJ62 instead)

One things I never want, is to be able to confuse my transmission with a CVT.

I hope you don't plan on buying any more cars in the next 5 to 10 years at the rate we are going...
The Bronco is only my 3rd car my entire life. First car (Acura Integra) lasted 18 years. Second car (BMW 330i) is 21 years old and still going strong. If my Bronco can make it 18 years, it will outlast me. I keep my cars a long time and take care of them.

More power to you. I always get bored with vehicles by around 5 years. I'm hoping to maybe keep my Raptor at least 6 to 7 (or more if nothing else similar is on the market and I can keep mileage down by getting a third vehicle), but we shall see..

It's the mileage and use (wear) that's important not necessarily the age and care.

Tom
Actually, good maintenance helps a lot (especially oil changes) barring a badly designed engine/transmission.

Had 330K on the Integra (top end rebuild at 225K, and it didn't die, it was totaled by a DOT truck) Honda engines are bulletproof with 3K mile oil changes and timing belt replacement at 60K.

Currently 174K on the BMW (still going strong, and should get to 250K before a top end rebuild is needed, which I will gladly do).

Based on other Fords that run a version of the 2.3L, I am hopeful that it can make it 200K miles which should be in 20 years... and I will be on the other side of the grass by then...
