I’ve been using my iPhone to take some video but I want something I can take a continuous video of the whole trail or at least a lot of it.

Also when I take videos with my iPhone, they seem to not be super clear even Messing around with the settings.

GoPro is the popular option. There are other similar cameras that do the same thing. Even some dashcams provide these options. GoPro is just the tried and true.

We have a Gopro and what I don't like about it is it chops up the video into chunks that you have to stitch together and the battery life seems too short for a long trail. Maybe the newer ones are better. We have a dash cam that seems to work better. We just switched to a different dash cam by Thinkware (I think is the brand, wife bought it) and will see how it does. It has a wifi option and app to connect to your phone so you can check what you are recording. Will see how it works when we hit the trails this summer.

I'll save you the trouble and some money. Unless you are putting together some production type video you'll soon find its a waste of time, energy, and disk space. Just enjoy the trail and take some point and shoot pics. Trust me, no one will want to watch your 1.2TB of trail videos...eventually you won't either as those thoughts usually start to kick in around the 320GB mark.

I'm with you on this, I bought a Blackvue dash cam for my Miata, it was fun the first couple of times I used it but then the novelty wears off so much so I just put the cam on the shelf. As you say no one really wants to watch your videos, kind of like your kids pictures and holiday snaps.

BTW: Blackvue makes a really nice dash cam.
