Hi, I’m considering buying the Front Runner Slimline II for my 4 dr Bronco. Do you know if you were able to remove the middle/long hard top panel of your roof with the rack installed? I can see in the pics the front two panels can be removed but wondering about the middle one specifically.I was also debating between both and can honestly say I’m VERY happy with the Frontrunner rack.
The Pak Rax is a very nice add-on, but Frontrunner is also coming up with a similar alternative, which I’ll definitely be adding to my set up.
So far I’ve been carrying an Ikamper, set of Maxtrax, chase lights and the light bar (will be adding an awning soon). And the rack has been super solid.
I’ve put A LOT of on and off-road miles in it and have zero problems.
Is it loud? Anything above 75mph, Yes! But that’s no different than any rack+tent set up in my opinion.
So far, I’ve been very happy with it!

They are all equally ugly in my opinion, only OEM looks nice, the rest look chincy! lolThe Raket roof rack? I'm sorry IMO that's the ugliest roof rack out there. If I was going to spend 2400 on a roof rack, I'd buy the Gobi Rack.
The roof rack that Ford installed on my Bronco was a $365 option. What on earth makes these other ones worth so much more?Just saw that the front runner roof rack is on sale for $1,386.00 compared to the $2000 regular pricing.
It depends on your use case for what you will be using the roof rack for. The oem roof rack is not rated for a roof top tent. Aftermarket roof rack have stronger rigidity that can hold more load than the OEM rack. The roof rack that Ford installed on my Bronco was a $365 option. The Ford roof rack is rated for 110 pounds when in motion and 450 pounds when parked (2021 Bronco Owner's Manual, page 278). I would think that one person in a roof-top tent would still work. In any case, I have no plans to carry anything heavier than an inflatable raft or a couple of kayaks on mine.It depends on your use case for what you will be using the roof rack for. Yup like I mentioned, it depends on each person use case. You'd be surprise how heavy roof top tent can be. Below is an example of a popular one. So that would be a reason why someone would go for an aftermarket roof rack. The Ford roof rack is rated for 110 pounds when in motion and 450 pounds when parked (2021 Bronco Owner's Manual, page 278).
