With a plate as low as that, I would expect to smash it when driving off road. Stuff like they do at the Off-Roadeo. Pull up to the first rock ledge and crunch.

I'm curious why the original Ford bracket installed in the lower position wouldn't have worked for you. It looks like this:

I attached my plate below the intercooler opening, drilled 3 new holes in the factory plate mount and bolted it to the mod bumper. If it happens to become a new layer of skid-plate, oh well…

This was my solution from almost two years ago. No issues at all, remains in place and no issues with LEO either. And it also doesn’t dangle down to get hit. Link to product in the video description:
