So I tried to figure this out today.

This is what I did...
1. Disconnected battery and ground for AWS module (module is besides wash fluid container in engine bay).
2. Disconnected cable harness from AWS module and remove red spacer inside harness.
3. Connected 2 cables to PINs 42, and 43 and re-connected the harness (leaving the cables outside).
4. Changed the AWS setting at 703-162-02 to 0000 0010 0061 .
5. Measured the voltage across pins 42 and 43 (0 Vdc).
6. Turned on the vehicle, and changed goat mode to previously enabled Rock Crawl mode. This mode *should* automatically turn on the rear locker.
7. Measured the voltage across pins 42 and 43.
8. NOTHING (0 Vdc).

There is no voltage across 42 and 43.

It is more complicated than one AWS setting.

In case somebody wants to try in the future, know that the pin numbers are on the module side of the AWS module. They are upside down.

If anyone gets any further please let me know.

I am a little afraid to be messing with a vehicle deeper than I already have.

Also worth noting: Rear Dana 44 axle does NOT have an entry for the cable. Probably will need to be drilled in case of installation in the future.

Plan B for me:
I have purchased the 4 button hero switch panel. I will be building a small circuit board to intercept the 4th button and light and activate the rear locker independent of GOAT through there. That's a project for the future and I will update once I start on it. Time is really my problem as I don't have much. But I will get to it eventually.

Regards,
Sam.

If anyone wants to help please post your FULL configuration from:
https://www.motorcraftservice.com/AsBuilt

I need OBX high package with trailer and rear locker.

I will use this to compare to my own configuration to see all items that need to be changed in order to enable the rear locking function.

Thanks!

Tim,

Thanks for all the help so far. Any chance you might be able to also post the following values as well please:
Instrument Panel Control Module
Accessory Protocol Interface Module

I am not sure if these make a difference since I do not have the hero switch pack yet...
https://parts.ford.com/shop/en/us/electrical/switches/switch-14759503-1?pdp=y#/sectionId:395088949

Once it arrives (I am told around 60 days or so) I can test the button as well.

Thanks again!
How did it end up working out for you, Wintoon? I plan to add a rear locker someday too. I have base non-sas. I want to add rear and make it factory. What did your process look like with Forscan?

Thanks,
Mike.

Everything works as expected. The rear locker gets activated as expected, even by GOAT modes automatically. Light in the hero switch follows the locker state.

There is no indication of the locker condition in the instrument panel, but that does not bother me.

Its pretty good.

As an added bonus, I can enable the locker without switching over to 4x4 mode simply by pressing the button. This is great for easier trails when you don't really need full time 4x4 and just a quick on/off.

Found this on the forums. It would enable you to see locker icon on screen...

here is link to thread (it's on page 4): https://www.bronco6g.com/forum/thre...locking-differential-factory-ish.88656/page-4

"All, I wanted to add to the content of this thread that @Basket2023 spearheaded for us all for doing a factoryish rear locker install using the factory hero button and harness. I did some studying and figured out how to make the locker icon and locker messages appear on the instrument cluster.

In the IPC module you need to change line:

720-07-01*xxxxxxxxx--
You will currently have a "0" where * is, change that to a "8".

I was able to test it and it worked, I'm still in the process of installing my actual locker, but I installed the hero switch panel and made the forscan changes and it all seems to be working on the module side. "

Did you install a locker into your original axle or did you go the "buy the whole axle and swap it in" route?

Ok so I was able to get the whole hero switch. I was able to turn on the rear with the hero switches. How the heck do I turn on the front and swaybar disconnect? What line of code do I change?

Get a wildtrak and look at the code maybe. See which lines are different. They have everything except a sway bar disconnect I think. Oh and look at the code on a Sasquatch to see which codes line up with front and rear. If you can find code for a basequach, it might be best. They are pretty bare bones. Watch out for the 4a code. Wouldn’t want to add that on accident. And this is all educated guessing
