Did you get the added insurance? I am going to be there in September and was wondering if it's needed?
I went to the TX one and did not get the insurance. It was fine. Just listen to them on the lines and angles and you won’t have any issues.

Excellent summary! Thank you. That video is amazing.
Yesterday, August 16, I was in the opening day event in New Hampshire. Knocked my socks off. Two questions.
1. We were driving up and down a mountain. In 4L all the time. In addition on the way down we were in manual (M) on the gear shifter while using the thumb control to move up and down the transmission gears as needed. That was superb in saving wear and tear on the brakes. Did your group try that?
2. We were at low speed dodging trees and found Shuffle Steering to be beneficial. Anyone try that at Moab?
One other comment. I love how your location can facilitate high speed travel. We did engage in "high speed" travel on narrow wooded trails and it felt alarmingly fast. I laughed when I read the speedometer and found I was only traveling at 17mph. I guess most aspects of life are relative! ;)
For those of us less knowledgeable people, what is 'Shuffle Steering'?

This video might help. When dodging trees and rocks it was helpful. You maintain great control of the steering wheel. I guess we learn something new every day. ;)
Thanks. I've used that technique a few of times, just never heard the term.

" There was legit concern by the off rodeo team about a specific order in which to park the Bronco. Come to a stop, shift to neutral, put on park brake, let off the regular brake, then move the shifter to park. I don’t know the route cause for that concern. "

I was taught this a while back with Land Rovers. I believe it would apply to all automatics. If you place the parking brake on while in neutral, the brake does all the work of holding the car. If you do the reverse, then the transmission takes all the forces and when you turn it back on shift, you will get a transmission clunk sound. Those are the gears grinding while they having the weight of the vehicle on them.
For example, try parking on a hill, place the transmission into Park, the car is not moving, but the transmission is wound up. Then place it in drive and feel the clunk. I would avoid doing that.
^^ This^^
I was in the first group at the Nevada Off Roadeo location and the team was drilling this into us there as well. Just as a good practice to have for “mechanical sympathy” and to have your rig in good working order for the long term

I have to say, i was blown away by the entire course and training setup they had at the Vegas location. I went in a complete novice to off roading and the staff was patient and eager to explain and answer my questions about handling different situations. In talking to some of the other more experienced off-roaders that attended in my group, they all agreed that it was some really challenging terrain that they were putting us through….all in all a great experience and must do for everyone that has an opportunity to experience this.

At the Nevada location, we did also shift to M1 on the way down to save wear on brakes.

How many 2drs were available? And were they automatic?
there were no 2 doors available. 14 Broncos for this session. When we got back there was a 2 door they were giving a door removal demo on, but none for the trail.

Well dang it...so I was just thinking of switching my WT to a BL (soft) in hopes of getting it sooner, but I'd have to leave off Sasquatch to keep the prices closer.

Now sounds like I have to stick to my WT.
and just think...................if you are a good boy, you will get it in 2024.

In my Raptor I use the sport mode to hold a lower gear on long down hills. Raptor also has a feature were you can hit the "-" paddle shifter to limit the top gear to some thing lower.

I'll miss both of these on the badlands, I guess I'll have to use M mode more.

Random question but if you pay for a +1 do you both get to drive?
I would also like to know if the additional add on people get to drive or just how that works..... I might have a few coming with me and was curious what their experience might be like and how it does or does not differ from the primary experience.

My Brother and I were at Vegas for opening day. All technical trails, never got above 10 mph, 4lo the whole trip, and M1 or M2. The Bronco behaved very well, using 4lo and M1 it was easy to crawl down the steep ravines, the ability to select front or rear lockers independently was very cool, I was driving a Badlands, so I got to test out the sta-bar disconnect, a couple spots you could feel and see a noticeable difference, and amazing that you can disconnect under load.
like others have said about staff, the Vegas team was awesome. One of the guides, Anthony, came from Texas off-roadeo.

Yep, my Brother got to do some of the demo stuff, and had a good amount of seat time. Also, got all the free swag the owners did .

I’m not sure answer is official or not, but during my session in Austin people did switch out towards the end.
