Does anyone know if this has a purpose or reason it's on the front doors?

Just seems strange to me.

I have been wondering what these are for since I first installed mine last summer! This welded boss is only on the front doors of the 4-door kit I think, since I don’t see it in the 2-door pictures. The instruction manual actually took the time to illustrate these features, but never explains what they are for.
I though weight, too, but that doesn't make sense. The doors are plenty heavy. They easily have the momentum to latch closed with a push, and besides, the rear doors are smaller and close fine without it. Possibly some dampening mass for reducing vibration?
They are very similar to the hinge bosses in their design. Could there be a reason to drill and tap them to attach something later? But what?

Could it be to provide a safety point in the event of a crash? To keep the tube from fracturing at the point it meets the body of the driver/passenger? Place for your elbow?

They are on my 2 door tubes and no, I still can't really scry any reason for them.
