Drop Receiver for Towing and Wheeless Basket

So I did some searching in the forums but did not see anyone using this type of setup. Thinking this will kill 2 birds w/1 stone. drop hitch for towing and adjustability for the wheelless trailer. Thoughts?

I think the hitch by itself exceeds the weight rating of the Bronco receiver!

Yeah that ought to do it. I use the cheap HF adjustable one, it's rated for 5k I think so 3500 shouldn't stress it. It puts the ball out of the tire.

Regardless of the hitch you pick, keep in mind an extension hitch is a nice addition.

Expensive and overkill for what you want to accomplish.Just my opinion.

I could also use this one which is "lighter duty" but it doesn't look as good

Ok so I went with the lower cost Gen Y Rebel receiver rated at 5000# 7" drop with 4 receiver slots (I think the Phantom has replaced it with a 7000# rating). I am pretty happy so far. It works well with my wheelless trailer as far as tire clearance opening the rear and the fact it will fold up. It sits a little far behind the vehicle and I am on the fence about shortening the main tube to bring it closer to the vehicle but will leave it for now.
