I have in writing via e-mail from the finance director "On ordered vehicles we charge MSRP, minus applicable rebates once the vehicles arrive including tax". Is this evidence enough in case the dealer decides to include markup the day I go pick up? I have nothing signed whatsoever, this is the only info I have regarding this. With all the dealer markup horror stories lately I am getting freaked out!

No, that is not enough. But nothing really is other than trust. You could have a purchase order signed by the dealer principal themselves and on the day you go to pay they could jack it up 15k. A lawyer to sue would cost you more than that anyway, and the state's attorney general's office would not be likely to investigate, and if they did and fined them, it would probably be for less than the ADM they charge some schmuck off the street.

The only leverage you have is a dealership that cares about its reputation. Many unfortunately do not.

Wounded animals usually bite, approach with alert caution and be grateful when they don't and you exit their presence. A single pig can consume two pounds of uncooked flesh every minute, hence the phrase, 'as greedy as a pig.'

This is correct. There is nothing they can give you that would ultimately "hold water" in a dispute. It just helps to have as much ammo in writing as possible, so that they are forced to relent to protect their reputation, if they care about such things.

What you have isn't bad. It's not ironclad and anyone who thinks they have an ironclad agreement of any kind in the auto biz is delusional. The best protection is a known honorable dealer. Beyond that, you just get them to write down as much as possible and pray they don't try to shaft you.

Thanks for the replies, I wish you all the best when you take delivery. I’ll try to update this at the end of the month when I take mine.
