Hey guys! Figure I would share pictures of some cross bars I made up. I needed a way to temporarily mount a rooftop tent to my soft top bronco, so I grabs some stainless, pinched off the ends and bolted them to the existing rivnuts in the cage. I was pleasantly surprised how sturdy they actually are. I did use nylon washers to keep them off of the paint. This could be useful for some people as a under soft top solution to haul longer bulky items you may get from a furniture store and such. I mounted the 85LB tent, took off my soft top and proceeded to test it’s limits, with no issues to report. Even after a 30 mile off-road trip and sleeping in it on a windy day (I’m 200LB). Now I wouldn’t suggest this be a go-to solution for mounting a tent because it leave large air gaps on the sides for rain and dust and honestly I don’t know how much I would trust it long term but I think it’s a cool idea that I would like to see manufacturers with more know-how tackle. My hunt continues for a good rack solution for us hardtopless owners. Enjoy the pictures and let me know if you have any cool ideas!
