So after receiving the Golden Ticket to be able to order a Raptor, i find myself in a bit of a weird headspace. I am a day 1 res with a 2dr wildtrak on order and no date or vin yet and i have reached the point of Zen or Bliss and just living life without it despite how much i want it.
At MSRP my WT is 51k and with unknown numbers on the raptor packages im assuming my build would probably be around 74k but that is also without an ADM which is inevitable. I would love to be able to own a raptor and if i can secure one for MSRP ill do it, but i won't be paying any MSRP plus ADM as im sure most on here feel the same.
My headspace is i know i want a 2dr WT but at the same time to be able to own a Raptor would just be amazing and something i really could only dream of. I wish Ford would run programs much like the GT whereas you sign a contract that you won't Buy and flip right away with a minimum 1 year ownership etc... These "limited models" would be sitting in driveways instead of showrooms for years. I understand markups from dealerships, i dont like them, but i understand them especially in this day and age with everything going on but the fact that dealerships use the "well this will easily sell for 100k at the auction" excuse is embarrassing and frankly unprofessional.
It goes both ways too for flippers that buy and sell for 100k+, it always comes back to the "auction" value and not what it actually should be worth. There are vehicles out there that if i had the money id pay more than its worth just to own but those vehicles are also 200k+ real value on their own.
I am ranting a bit but it would make sense for programs that involve "select individuals" to purchase "limited/special" edition vehicles to follow guidelines, rules and stipulations on purchasing those vehicles. On top of that, dealerships could also throw in their own rules like "if you choose to sell the vehicle after 1 year, the dealership has first dibs" or something along those lines.
It is my personal opinion that if this was done to avoid paying ADM, you would have a LOT more happy customers for both Ford and individual Dealerships. Again i think the whole process is a dilemma personally but what does everyone think?
