I've been trying to mount a dash accessory to the 1/4"-20 thread in the center of the dash, but everything I mount ends up facing the left side of the car, 90 degrees. I don't quite know if that's a design flaw/defect with the dash threading, or if I just need differently threaded screws (male-male) than the ones I'm using.

Did anyone figure out a way to mount a cell phone holder or other accessory that faces exactly North/South on the vehicle, hood to rear?

It's facing left, so a quarter turn?

You could try stacking a washer or two to keep it from cranking all the way down.

I think an M2.5 would be about a half turn, so maybe two of those?

So your device has a permanently attached male thread?

If so, then make an intermediate bracket that allows you to mount the bracket to the dark and then in another hole you mount your widget at the correct angle.

🤷

Add a nut to the post your are threading in. That way you can get it threaded in and pointed the direction you want and then tighten down the extra nut to lock it in place.

Put some washers on the screw

Thanks everyone, I'll try some washer combinations out and see if it solves the problem for now (until a real accessory rail is released!). Appreciate the help!

Most camera mounts come with a locking nut to lock in proper position
