Hi all. Wanted to let you know what I just went thru (both on phone and chat) in order to move from one dealer to another. There has been a lot of confusion on process and thought I would share what I just went thru. I called the Ford Marketing number (800-334-4375) and was on hold for 75 minutes. While on hold, I also chatted with a Ford specialist online via chat. He told me that he believed they have suspended dealer change due to high demand but he would check. He then said "I would contact the dealer you are wishing to order from. I am getting conflicting information on my end. I do know they suspended dealer changes, but am also being told you can contact the dealer when it is time to order and they can make that change for you". I e-mailed my hopeful "new" dealer and he said "Ford has control over the switching, we cannot do it on our end".
Sadly, I had to hang up for a meeting. I called back again around 90 minutes later when I had more "time" (who has time to be on hold)... and waited another hour before someone picked up. I gave her my name/phone number/e-mail/address confirmation and order number. Explained I wanted to change dealers and she said that only Ford Corporate can change dealers at this time - she cannot. She also said that changing dealers wasn't a guarantee and only certain circumstances would be considered. The three examples she gave me: 1. Relocation - did you move? 2. not getting along with my dealer 3. Grainger. I explained my situation for her to put in the notes section -and she ended the call saying this process will take about 7 - 10 business days before I hear anything. Notification will either be by an e-mail from Ford Corporate or just check your account online. She said that the marketing department would not have any updates or way to track this request - if I don't hear back from Ford Corporate in two weeks, call back again.
I hope this helps some of you - and hope you don't have to waste any more time than on hold for an hour... If all of this changes by the time this posts, don't blame me... this is just my experience this AM.
