I financed 1/2 via the dealer to get a better price and extended warranty package. Then paid it off after 3 payments. Am not a extended warranty fan, but with all these weird issues reported and new electronics and cameras on the LUX did not want to take a chance. It ended up basically free since I placed a deposit 2 years prior.
A trick I learned that seems so obvious now but I didn't think of it at the time was this:
If you required to make N number of payments, basically pay off the entire vehicle on the very first payment, only leaving enough balance for two more payments.... This saves you on interest.
For example, the last time I did that, I made my 2 payments as scheduled, and then paid it off on the 3rd. Meanwhile my loan had racked up $500 in interest, which was half the amount money I was getting off from the dealer. I mean making $500 bucks is 500 bucks, but I would have only paid < $100 had I paid off all but like $1,000 on that first payment.
