i did the kit from infotainment and it did include a new APIM.
I also used infotainment easy peasy! Apim included! No issues ! From what I read on carabc is looks like you need a different apim

On one of the pictures there is a PS that states the 12" APIM is required. I went the Infotainment route as well.

Yeah, you’re mixing and matching parts so many auto-updates will probably stop working.

The Carabc parts are form the Chinese version of the Bronco that is assembled in China. You obviously are driving the American spec of the Bronco, so you’re ended up with configurations the update servers don’t recognize and don’t have updates for.

Got it, so my fix would be buying a new APIM and installing? Is this an ‘easy’ fix?

I don't know if it'll ever quite work properly, because I doubt the update servers are going to expect Chinese parts in a vehicle with an Americas VIN. In general, swapping module parts between vehicles can be messy because it's obviously expecting your vehicle to have the parts it was shipped with. But yeah, that's probably the best chance at getting it to work.

There is some programming involved to get it to work. APIMs are around $800 last I checked but given recent current events it might have gone up a bit.

can i update through USB? I have a seller willing to give me a 12" APIM - but i'm really not familiar with the install and programming side.

No, not for SYNC 4 APIMs. SYNC 3 APIMs can be updated using USB, but SYNC 4 requires FDRS—the dealership software.
