Diabolical Inc I received mine yesterday and got it installed for the most part. The build quality is great -- awesome job there!

One thing I realized is that the tailskin doesn't really fit the softtop though, even though there's been prior discussion about this. Specifically, the poprod for the softtop actually interferes with the tailskin by maybe just 1/4 inch. The video you have on Youtube shows it working but it seems that's with the poprod removed?

OK that's weird. In the soft top video Alan talks about using the prop rod? I hope this isn't an issue.

Rewatching the video, I see the prop rod and it looks fine, but fibbb actually has it installed so he’d know better.

What I’m worried about is how to close the soft top with the back window in. It doesn’t look like you’ll be able to pull the back of the top down from underneath without hitting the tail skin piece.

Seems like you could pull from the open corners? Hopefully?

Your concern is legit. I'd say It's very difficult if possible at all to close the softtop with the backwindow on, because if you are like me, I tend to grab the inner side of the softtop when I try to close it. The open corners are only large enough to accomodate the latches, so not possible to put your hands in there. I'm currently using it without the tailskin installed and it's not that bad. With the top closed, the softtop frame covers most of the gap.

Another area I find challenging is how the top works with the softtop latch. The side rails of the enclosure is anchored on two small brackets that get sandwictched in between the stock latch point and the stock trunk wall. That means the stock latch point is now about 1/2 inch off from its original location. It's puts much more pressure on the latching mechanism. If you watch the video closely you'll also see Allen mentioning it's really tight when he closes the latches.

I don't think these things take a way the fact the product is very well built overall. But if Allen is open to consider tweaking the design to make these things work better that would be awesome.

The easiest way I see to address the poprod interference is maybe make a slightly tweaked poprod to accommodate the shape of the tailskin?

I also think some kind of reshaped latch point would help a lot. (eg maybe built the latch point into the bracket, so I don't need the stock latch point)

I stand corrected. I watched the video again and the poprod is NOT removed in the video.

But the side window panels ARE removed. I suspect that made it possible for him to raise the softtop frame higher than usual, hence allowing the poprod to clear.

With the side panels on though -- I find the tailskin doesn't clear the poprod -- it misses by just a tiny bit (~1/4 inch?), and that's with the top pushed up as far as I'm comfortable with not damanging the top itself.

Is the system secure without the tail skin? I know it will be less secure, but does it “lock” down somewhat?

I’m hoping Diabolical takes a look at this and is up for making some adjustments that might help the soft top system. Keep us informed.

Another 28 kits went out today, the last should go out Wednesday.

The kits that went out Friday have the corrected bracket in the 4x4x48 box.

The kits that went out today we have removed the incorrect bracket and replaced it with the correct one.

The corrected multibend bracket should be in your 4x4x48 box with the lower wall.

make sure the tailskin is in its lowest position in the slotted holes, the edge should be below the rubber seal on the rear window. If you are having problems please give us a call.

I am going to attempt to knock some of this out today. I spent yesterday evening watching the Youtube Installation video. Some of the work can be done ahead of time. My garage is small and I don't have a lot of space to lay things out so I am going to assemble what I can inside and then hopefully minimize the install in the garage.
