Wow, they shouldn't be doing that to res holders/enthusiasts. When did you take possession? Which dealer did you use?

8/25 is a good day! That's my birthday. I'm a 6/8/21 res. And I have a badlands softtop on order. Figure you can't go wrong with SoCal sunny days. Have you gotten a VIN yet?

You ordered through Galpin? When did you convert the reservation to an order? I reserved 3 months ago, but Galpin refuses to convert it into an order until the MY22 order banks open up.

I received an email from Ford on 10/2/2020 titled "Bronco Reservation Update and Next Steps" here is one of the paragraphs:
"Then, December through January, your selected dealer will be reaching out to schedule an order consultation when you will place your order for production and finalize your purchase price. Be sure to save your configuration from For‌d‌.‌com to share with your dealer. Expect your dealer to request a deposit to confirm your commitment, which will enable us to accurately schedule production. No worries if you’re not the first to place an order, as your reservation time stamp will stay with your order."

Ford probably should have bolded and underlined that in the email and / or added a couple of sentences regarding. We are lucky, our dealer printed the entire order with their doc fee and both myself and the manager signed two copies one for each of us.

OP I have seen this fee before usually it is in the $495 range and often I have been able to negotiate it lower, removed or left it but they threw in some accessories. Best of luck to you but at this point I think you are stuck.

Also, everyone commenting on the surveys, I can't imagine Ford would do anything with them this year but throw in the trash...they will be too skewed from the pandemic, supply chain and production issues outside of the dealers control.

You do have to enjoy the trip down memory lane regarding the above reservation time stamp...

In Canada the "Admin. Fee" was C$499 on my 2021 Ford Bronco. With USD/CAD 1.26 just under US$400. Negotiated an accessory credit for C$203 (cargo mat), which I considered a win buying at MSRP. 2DR are all hard tops. Outer Banks spec. Antimatter blue. 2.3L auto.
