Bronco overheating issues?

I’ve been having overheating issues with my Bronco and was curious if anyone else was seeing similar issues or had a fix for the issues they were having. I’ve been noticing very high engine oil temperatures and not sure what to do to get it back down.

What is “very high”? Are you getting a Check Engine light or going into limp mode?

Somewhat high (upwards of 235-240) is normal at times and ok.

The usual fix is to turn the A/C on high - that forces the radiator fans on high and can drop that oil temp considerably.

I’ve been using Max A/C to get it back down but I’ve seen 275 degree oil ofc this was for a short time but still not the numbers I want to see even for 30 seconds

How long after installing that bumper did it start happening? Doesn't look like much intercooler airflow is going on, especially at slower speeds

I bought it new with that bumper on it. I’ve met a lot of more local Bronco owners that have way more restrictive airflow and no problems. I think the problem is honestly the cooling fans. They never run very high even at high temps.

Well, the cooling fans don't run based on oil temp - only coolant temp and HVAC load.

I'd agree with looking at intercooler air flow first, beyond that, not sure exactly how that oil temp is calculated (it isn't a sensor, the computer guesses) and what other things to check. Seems like most of these people find it's either they blocked the intercooler, or the intercooler is caked in mud

I just washed my intercooler out the other day but it wasn’t too bad. These turbo engines do love running hot and ford likes to not run the fans until last minute. I’m using a very high grade fancy oil so I’m not too worried about oil temps considering oil is exposed to way higher temps near the cylinder walls.
