The purpose being to get a flat backing for good adhesion between the badgeand 3M VHB.

Indeed. I’m filing down the shaven pins with a file and using a grinding stone to make it as flush/smooth as possible. The script is a bit malleable so I’ll need to flatten it out good too before the 3M.

I really like what you’re doing here because I couldn’t find any without the pins, just couldn’t wait any longer for the market to catch up, as I’ll be ripping those fridge badges off immediately and really want to see these scripts on the AMB.

ETA: I paid about $45 each for the OG scripts and I have to refinish them myself. I bet OP will come in less than that without the work of refinishing. But there is some nostalgia value for having OG scripts that were once on an earlier Bronco.

From all the pictures I've seen of Cactus, satin or gloss black would look best.
It depends which finish you'd like to match.
Gloss black would match the finish of the painted fenders and gloss black rims.
If SAS, I'd go with satin black to match the finish of the MIC fenders for a more subdued look.

I will definitely take a set, but the color is up in the air right now. Currently my build is AMB Outer Banks, but the color is subject to change with the release of 2022 options. Ugh!
