I have to say as an engineer i'm not sure i agree with this... many of us are working from home anyway and the app should of (i say should of) been smoke tested for heavy use. throughput shouldn't be an issue with a company this size and with all the hype from us and many on B&P and the change at the highest levels of Ford, my bet is pricing decisions on items is the hold up. With the amount of time from mention to deployment I could of wrote the damn thing now with a few QA staff running continuous test. Just my thought that is (and im sure ill be wrong knowing that the "rockstars" can definitely screw this up)
The site will 100% crash full stop. Even AAA games crash on day 1, it's going to crash

Stress testing is very hard to do in a UAT environment when you are trying to replicate numbers like this.

My guess is they are using what happened in the reservation debacle to prepare for this.

You are more than likely right, but that means they are not prepared. just years ago you could not simulate load, these days there are tools especially for companies with the $$$ to buy and use them. If and when it crashes that is a black eye on the "rockstars" as the time it has taken it should not only work, but also give you a back rub.

Yes, but these large companies don't like to spend money.

True to an extent, but as you said considering the reservation mess, you can place a decent amount of load balancers in front of the app and use Elastic Beanstalk in AWS (which they are using) to spin up instances as load increases. Have seen it done with many large companies, but they ones that did it right were software companies and not retail so either way it will be intresting to see what happens.
not like we need any further reason to throw chairs!!

Thanks! I like your screen name!
How much are you going to drive without a door? Literally 24/7/365?
If I could, I would. 24/7/365. I see you're in Michigan—I came from Buffalo originally, so I know that's not in the cards for you. I'm in Florida now & I literally drive doorless whenever possible... as often as I can. Pulled the drain plugs this past weekend DURING a drive with my daughter because we got caught in a torrential downpour. Live without doors—die without doors, I guess. Still... nothing beats the look you get from everyone else when you pull them off and "go sailing". You can see the "awwww, cool" gleam in their eyes. That's not why I do it, but it's a nice reminder of how neat it really is to go doorless.

I had a "Made in USA" sticker on my Honda Accord and also the '98 Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX (made in Normal, IL).

It used to piss off people non-stop for some reason. Especially those in their Mexican built Chevys and Fords.
? + ? (open by November)
It was only supposed to be 30 days to stop the spread.

Then they shouldn't be surprised when their customers complain about their shortcomings and decisions.

I am so, so bored with this. Ford really knows how to suck the fun out f the party. Maybe Ford thinks the drip-drip-drip of information is the way to go. I see it as a form of water torture. Between this, the lack of vehicles to see, the lack of dealer outreach, the lack of insight into even the most basic features, etc. I am finding by Bronco biorhythms at the bottom. I am focusing more on my other things in life and less on Bronco-mania. Thus ends the whine.
Stay tuned, next up, BN is coming out with a video on how to adjust the Bronco heater controls.

I was planning on getting the doors with holes in them and using those most of the time. I assume they do not have any windows, so rain would be a risk, but I thought I could use them on regular roads most of the time.

Now,... I heard that they might not happen. Does anyone know?
