BougeRV 12V Refrigerator/Freezer

So to begin, I don't go overlanding and when I go off-roading it's nothing too extreme so my requirements for a 12V refridgerator/freezer are a bit different than some of you more hardcore off-roaders. That being said, it's not uncommon to be away from home for a good chunk of the day, and requiring cold storage for food and drinks. I did have a 35L roto-molded cooler, however I found it to be a bit too bulky and having to fill it with ice and taking up space was not super productive.

Today my BougeRV 12V refrigerator/freezer arrived. I went with the 30 Quart model and the black colour scheme. It was on sale on Amazon for $289 CDN (originally $359 CDN), and has a 4.6 star review with over 2,300 reviews.

As you can see from the pictures below, it fits great in my 4 door Bronco. It's light weight (when empty), and can fit nicely along the backseat or on either side. The lid opens up most of the way without having to slide it out, which is nice.

I haven't plugged it in yet, as the instructions suggest to let it sit for 12 hours right side up before using. However I am impressed with the build quality, and it comes with a 24 month warranty.

My dad gifted me the exact same one after borrowing my friend's 30L Dometic for a two week cross country trip last summer. I've used it on several overnight camping and long day trips. It's kept up the entire time. The controls are basic and no wifi but I need my fridge to keep things cold not do my taxes. For a third the price it's been a great addition to throw in the back and make these camping trips more convenient. You'll love it!

Ya, I don't care about the wifi ability like some other units have - It just needs to be a fridge/freezer and do it well. Do you run yours off your Bronco or a second battery, or do you use something similar to my Jackery?

The only downside I see thus far is I wish it had some tie-down anchor points. Not a deal breaker, but it would be nice.

I plug it into the Broncos 110V outlet when the Bronco is on/driving and then swap to my EcoFlow when at the campsite and overnight. It memorizes the last setting so if you switch off when gassing up, it will turn right back on and start cooling again after your 5-15 minute fill up. My bronco is packed so tight (2dr) it doesn't need tie downs lol.

I have 3 of the BougeRV fridges, Small - 23qt, 41qt Rocky, 59qt combo. I took the refer out of our camp trailer and replaced it with the 59qt. The 23 quart is our standard road trip cooler, it is 4 years old and has probably 1000 hours on it. Easy to take into a hotel room at night. I ran a hard wire to the cargo area of The Bronco for power. The battery protection works great, never had a dead battery. I highly recommend them.

I just plugged it in for the first time this morning. In less than an hour it went from about 72 degrees F to 0 degrees F, which is pretty good. It's very quiet when the compressor is on. Quite impressed so far!

I have been using mine weekly for almost a year without any issues. It is hard wired into a secondary battery that will keep things cold/frozen for days and nothing gets soggy from melted ice. The slide out is nice also.

I wasn't considering a slide out for it, but this looks nice - I assume it's bolted to the floor? The fridge just sits on it, and isn't bolted to the slide?

Pfft, gotta keep the Pillsbury cookies cool before I cook them in my engine bay on a hot Summer day!
