I've got a BD with the basic HVAC. Sometime the fan will be on low, yet feel like it's on high. Sometimes I will turn the blower switch to off, yet it continues to blow from the vents.

When I after sitting for a while, it will commonly take up to 30 seconds before it will let me adjust the radio, or Hvac system. Occasionally the clock will be several hours off, then randomly return back to the correct time, yesterday it was off for the entire 30min trip. Didn't reset to the correct time till I restarted the ignition.

I tried disconnectingvthe battery for a minute and drained the capacitors, but that didn't help.

Had the same annoying fan issues. It's stupid and should be fixed.

Where are we with this fan speed issue? I keep my AC fan on 1 or 2 and suddenly it changes to high. It’s not on auto and I can adjust the fan control but it doesn’t change anything until it decides. Happens mostly on freeway. Tried changing temperature, vents, etc… with no difference. It’s mostly annoying so I’m not planning to take it in—-as the dealership may want to replace the “air speed control module” or something else that involves getting under the dash!

My Bronco Sport did this, it seemed to be automatic to the temperature setting and maintaining the setting, once it reached temperature, it slowed the fan speed. Haven't paid attention to it on the Bronco.

It's caused by the air pressure at the windshield cowl forcing the air through the vents on the highway. Bad design that doesn't block out the buildup of air infront of the windshield, from our brick-like aerodynamics.

I just turn the dial below each air vent on the dash, to restrict how much makes it out of the vents.

Notice how the issue disappears when you change the controls from outside air over to the recirculation mode.

Having a similar issue. I think I've pinpointed mine, and I'm taking it in. I usually run mine with the recirculation on, fan speed 1 - 2, and A/C coolant on. Sometimes the recirculation seems to turn itself off, but the light stays lit. I get higher air output, but the temp changes.
If I turn it off/back on, that doesn't fix it. If I turn it off and turn off the lit "A/C" button just below that, then turn them both back on, it resumes correctly. Weird. Will update once I hear back from my service dept. It's frequent and annoying enough that I want it fixed.

My 2.7 Badlands does kind of the same thing. It's hot down here in TX, so the A/C is always on, always in Recirc mode, fan usually on 1 or 2. Everything's fine for 30 or 40 minutes or so, then all of a sudden the breeze coming out of the vents is like a gale. Temp stays the same, lights on controls stay the same, but it's like it switched over to outside air and cranked the fan up. After a few minutes it'll calm down and go back to normal.

Weird.

Mine does the exact same. It's so weird! I have to toggle the recirc & turn the blower off and back on to reset it to my old setting.

Discovered the same issue while we did a road trip over the summer. Based on what the manual says, it will turn recirculate on and off on its own to reduce fogging risk.

From manual:

Only thing I'm not sure on is when its in vent and at highway speeds, it does come in a lot faster.

is there any workaround here? Fan randomly starts blowing at high speed when I don't want it to
