What is the advantage of a mesh top over solid? It would seem there isn’t one other than price. Am I missing something?

Mesh let’s in more light but not full on light exposure with out a top on. That’s it really. Just preference on what you want.

Mesh: good sun/rain protection, more air circulation (cooler).
Solid: best sun/rain protection, less air circulation (warmer).

How long does it take to install (assuming hard top is already removed)?

On my early Bronco, the first time probably an hour. After that 10-15 minutes.

I've got a mesh top on my Jeep from Jtopsusa.com. They block up to 90% of UV rays, while allowing for greater air flow over a solid cloth cover. In terms of air flow compared to having nothing at all, I can hardly tell a difference, but it keeps me from getting sunburned. I keep mine on year round because it fits under both my factory hard top and Bestop Soft top. All I have to do fold it back a little when I secure the tops. I'd wait to get an aftermarket one. They'll be cheaper and likely better quality.

It's all about plenty of fresh air without having the full effects of the sun beating down on your skull. Great for those full days of open air driving in those hot summer months.

After living in FL for 15yrs and spending way too much time in the sun, I used the mesh top in my jeep. After moving to CO where Im 6k feet closer to the sun, I use my safari (aka Bimini top) top on my wrangler during summers.

I contacted the manufacturer of the one I had on my Jeep, and they will be making some for the new Bronco as soon as they get one to test fit.

Jtops are cool. I hope they'll come up with one for the Bronco. I wonder if anyone has contacted them about this? Or mentioned this forum?

I have a question for Jeep owners of mesh and canvas bikini tops. I end up on highways often. At speeds of 75mph will the canvas top flap around too much and is the mesh a better option on the highway?
