Best Top SkyRider - Any Issues?

I have the sky rider for my 4d and both tension cables have snapped causing a lot of wind noise and flapping when closed and driving on high speeds. Has anyone else experienced this issue with the cables? Curious to know.

No issue with cables. Been on for 8 weeks. Opened a few dozen times. Only issue I had is that I had to modify 1 hole on the bracket that secures the skyrider to the rear hardtop….no water issues. Some minor flapping/popping noises but not an issue.

That’s good to know. They did send me a whole new replacement top but I’m going to wait until next spring to put it on as I’m going back to the hard top for the winter. I’m just concerned this will be a bigger issue and I’ll have a constant headache on my hands. No water has gotten in yet. But the sides aren’t as tight as they should be so it’s only a matter of a storm and some heavy winds.

Ive had it since January. Drivers side cable snapped after about a month. Bestop sent me a replacement cable. Took 10 mins to swap out. No issues since. New top is crazy over the top service lol.

I didn’t realize you can replace the cable. They sent me a whole new system.

How do you replace the cable? It didn’t look like it had the capability to weave back in.

I had both of the stops on my cables break off too. Waiting for them to ship out a full replacement also.

very simple. There is no weaving. Just tie the end of new cable to the old. Pull it through whe you pull the old one out.

Interesting. I really like the top and the flexibility it offers, but they need to address this issue. It would be annoying to have to constantly have to fix these things.

Thats usually the latch plates on the Bronco need to be adjusted so it pulls down tighter.

Not tighten, adjust the plates on the Bronco that the Skyrider latches to. They have a lot of movement. You removed one of the bolts when you installed skyrider. When set correctly the Skyrider front header will latch down tighter to the bronco gaskets.

Tension cord on left side broke less then 2 months after install. Light usage and no offroading. Bronco 4 dr Outer Banks. Double version of top. Since I purchase about 4 months ago and waiting to install in warm weather (June 2024) they tell me it's our of return option and the cord is "at least a 90 day wait" on back order...yet you can buy brand new tops!

I'm leaning toward trying for OEM full top and selling at a loss. They don't stand behind the products. I hope to update but they are not offering anything other then "we'll send you a cord in 90+ days"...in other words when it getting cold in the Northeast.
