I don't know where you are in Texas, but In my NTBC FB group people go to Bridgeport and Barnwell. I have not personally been to either but people seem to frequent these two places.

Texas is a huge state with not much public property. If you are in the central Texas area there is the Hill Country overland route:

There is also Hidden Falls Adventure Park and some other private off road areas. There is a lot of stuff out near Big Bend (the national and state parks). Let people know where you are in Texas and I'm sure you'll get better recommendations.

Hidden falls is the closest to Houston. There is also a place called Wolves Cave as well.

don't forget general Sam offroad park in Huntsville. It's huge and has some massive mud holes. It's much more mudding geared than trail riding.
