B-Post Indent

As I was admiring the shear beauty of my Bronco, the envy of every Jeep and Toy Yoda driver, I noticed the indent on the B-Post of my 4-door, down at the rocker, and thought "wouldn't it be cool to put something there?". We have a plasma at the shop, so I can make almost anything I want. However, can anyone with their doors still on, let me know if that is a indent for looks / rigidity, or is it needed for space when the back door opens / closes? As well, anyone know the actual dimensions? I'll probably have to draw it a few times in AutoCAD, and print it off and use paper to see the fitment, but thought I'd ask
